background: The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the transport of phosphate into the mitochondrial matrix, either by proton cotransport or in exchange for hydroxyl ions. The protein contains three related segments arranged in tandem which are related to those found in other characterized members of the mitochondrial carrier family. Both the N-terminal and C-terminal regions of this protein protrude toward the cytosol. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been isolated. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] Function: Transport of phosphate groups from the cytosol to the mitochondrial matrix. Phosphate is cotransported with H(+). Subunit: Interacts with PPIF; the interaction is impaired by CsA. Subcellular Location: Mitochondrion inner membrane. DISEASE: Mitochondrial phosphate carrier deficiency (MPCD) Similarity: Belongs to the mitochondrial carrier family. Contains 3 Solcar repeats. Paraformaldehyde-fixed, paraffin embedded (Mouse brain); Antigen retrieval by boiling in sodium citrate buffer (pH6.0) for 15min; Block endogenous peroxidase by 3% hydrogen peroxide for 20 minutes; Blocking buffer (normal goat serum) at 37°C for 30min; Incubation: Anti-SLC25A33 Antibody, conjugated (bs-19814R-FITC) 1:400, 1.5 hours at 37°C; DAPI (5ug/ml, blue, C-0033) was used to stain the cell nuclei.
